Batman Beyond 2.0 #1 (2013) – Comic Book Review

This is the Batman Beyond I got introduced to! The animated series on TV!

Ok, so I never really got to read the Batman Beyond comics when I was a kid or anything… So I never got to check out what they had to offer… I myself got in to the franchise watching the shortlived animated series on TV and on Netflix… And I have to say that I am impressed!

As for the show. It really nicely demonstrated what I felt like Gotham City would become when the original Batman retired… What with the city going from this surrealist gothic look and feel… What with all the rain, and what not in the city… To a sort of techno noir city, with a new Batman fighting new villains or new villains that have patterned themselves after the old villains!

With that said though, I did recently get a chance to read the first issue of Batman Beyond 2.0 and I have to say that I really did like it!

A great/fun comic!

You see, in this new comic, it tells the story of how the Mayor of Neo Gotham has some how been given a similar virus that turned the previous Dr. Langstrom from Bruce Wayne’s day as Batman in to Man-Bat! And how the investigation that follows to find out how the Mayor after having gone to Neo Arkham Asylum, becoming Man-Bat and then eventually having a hard attack!

Now beyond the fact that this comic did bring back alot of the greats from Bruce Wayne’s day as Batman, (including: Barbara Gordon, and the a brief cameo from Dick Grayson… ) They also brought in a character that at least in the animated series I felt has mostly been forgotten about… The Man-Bat, and also gave some insight in to what actually did happen to Bruce Wayne’s original rogues gallery!

Anyway, this comic is a great start to what I hope will be an amazing new series… And if you get a chance, I highly recommend checking it out!
