Alright, so we all know the current shooter games, ‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution’ being one of them… The new Bionic Commando… Maybe not so new, but it is definitely one of them, heck, even the Resident Evil games!

Well those games really truly are a ton of fun, but like all things have their ancestry, and there is one game that could be said to be a direct ancestory of the modern video first person shooter, and if you were alive in the mid to late 90s, then you were sure to hear about it… And if you did, how cool was it!

That game was Duke Nukem 3D (1996)!

Killer pigs... I mean does it get any cooler?

Killer pigs… I mean does it get any cooler?

This game which saw one of it’s earliest portings on the Computer was an amazing game which told the story of how the lead character, ‘Duke Nukem’ is going through various locations with the intention of killing all the bad guys until he gets to the main boss of the game, and then doing the same to him!

Now I know that sounds awefully simplistic in regards to story… But it is true… It doesn’t really matter though, because as you go through the game, and create mass mayhem through out various levels, this shooter was one of the first, first person shooters where people actually talked, and you get to hear some great lines from various classic movies… And well, eventhough this game had graphics that are what they were for the time… This game had an extra added element of realism as it was one of the first games to add nudity and the ability to kill humans…

Well it is true that this game is awefully violent, and probably not something that you should be giving to your young son or daugter due to it’s depction of women in the game… It still is a fun one, and if you are looking for a game with a little bit of dirt in it… Then this is definitely one that is well worth check out!
