Futurama: Season 2 – Episode 2, ‘Mars University’ (1999) – TV Episode Review

Mars University.... Where the elite meet to become the brains of tomorrow... And Fry!

Mars University…. Where the elite meet to become the brains of tomorrow… And Fry!

Ok, So, so far, so good… So far I have to say that I have really rather enjoyed this show quite a bit! It seems like Matt Groening sort of took the whole, ‘Star Trek’ thing, and really made it in to an absolutely hilarious parody… With the same appeal that made the, ‘Simpsons’ so great!

And with that said, I thought that for my next TV Show review, that I would review Season 2 Episode 2, ‘Mars University’!

Written by: J. Stewart Burns (Unhappily Ever After) & Directed by: Bret Haaland (The Penguins Of Madagascar), Gregg Vanzo (The Killing Machine). Starring: Billy West (Doug), Katey Sagal (Married With Children) & John DiMaggio (Adventure Time).

“Ooh! I know this… whatcha call it?… Lite Brite!” – Fry (A quote from, Futurama season 2, episode 2: ‘Mars University’.)

Ok, A lot about what makes this episode great for me is how they manage to parody not just Star Trek in this episode, but how they also seem to parody different aspects of, ‘Animal House’!

Robot House is to this episode, what Omega House was to Animal House!

Robot House is to this episode, what Omega House was to Animal House!

So what I mean by all of this is that Fry (Played by: Billy West) and the gang from, ‘Planet Express’ all end up going to Mars for their own reasons, but with hilarious results! You see… The Professor goes to enroll an experimental monkey in to the college.

Fry and Leela (Leela being played by: Katey Sagal) go, and Fry enrolls in the school as well… Only to be upstaged by the Monkey that the Professor has enrolled in the School! And finally there is, ‘Bender’… Ahhhh Bender…

This guys has decided that he would like to go to the school and meet up with his old frat brothers from the robot frat… And the pranks they get in to!

Ultimately guys, this episode is one of the better episodes of the series, and seriously…. It is one that is worth watching when you get a sec, so check it out! You will be glad you did!
