The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes V2 Issue #001 (1996) – Comic Book Review

So we all know and recognize the Avengers that we have come to know and love in the various movies and animated TV series that have come out over the last few years… And they are great! But there is so much more to the world of the Avengers!

I grew up collecting the Marvel trading cards and got to enjoy that! I read their comics! I even recently got to watch the series that they did on TV back in the late 1990s! And they are so much fun! I mean We all know that the basics of the team has always consisted of: ‘Captain America’, ‘Thor’, ‘Iron Man’, ‘Hulk’, ‘Hawkeye’ & ‘Black Widow’, and even the movies are starting to move away from the original team… But there has been so many variations!

I have seen Avengers teams that have had different variations of all of the original, team! I have seen different variations of the team with Wolverine… Some with Spider-Man, and I even recently read a version that had Deadpool in it! And this team from an Avengers series that started off in 1996 has a ton of promise as well!

Now this first issue like most pilot episodes in TV series, was generally not as good as you know the series is going to be… But this issue still, I have to say that it is pretty darn good!

You see this story tells of how the Avengers have formed on what will later be called, ’Avengers Island’, now this current  new team consists of, ‘Captain America’, ‘Hellcat’, ‘Hawkeye’, ‘The Swordsman’, ‘Scarlett Witch’ and, ‘Vision’, (although when you consider that Stark Industries is funding the Avengers, I am hoping Iron Man maybe playing a role in the series soon as well!

But this issue tells the story of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team, that is lead by Dr. Donald Blake, and how they find Thor is trapped in amber… And when Loki discovers this… He tries to play a little game with Thor, to try to make Thor go against the Avengers…  And if the Avengers loose this game… Well… There ya go!

Ultimately, this issue is great… It is not as exciting as I suspect the future issues are going to be… But the over all art work being expert, and a great story of how the final Avengers end up… I have to say… It is pretty awesome! Check it out! It is quite well worth it!
