Westworld (1973) – Movie Review
Ok, so most people these days equate the name, ‘Westworld’ with the modern HBO series… But before that series came out, there was a magnificent movie that came out with Yul Brynner (The Magnificent Seven) & James Brolin (The Amityville Horror), with the same name!
And you know what? I have to say that this movie was pretty spectacular… But we will get in to that in a minute…
Written & Directed by: Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park). Starring Yul Brynner, James Brolin & Richard Benjamin (Deconstructing Harry).
“Hi. Ed Renfrew for Delos again. If there’s anyone who doesn’t know what Delos is, well, as we’ve always said: Delos is the vacation of the future, today. At Delos, you get your choice of the vacation you want. There’s Medieval World, Roman World and, of course, Westworld. Let’s talk to some of the people who’ve been there.” – A quote from, Westworld (1973).
Before The Terminator started terrorizing the streets looking for Sarah Connor, before even a kindly old guy had decided to start recreating dinosaurs… There was Westworld!
Now Westworld was actually one of about 3 theme parks in an overall resort, where people could go to, to rest and relax, and have a little bit of fun!
In the case of Westworld though, that world… Well that world obviously had a ton to do with the old west… But when one night, all of the robots turn on their keepers… It will be up to a small group of survivors to survive the old west once again!
Now this one is a blast… Great cast, great special effects, and a great story line… The only thing that I honestly did not like about it… And this might sound a little weird… Is that I did not like the fact that they did make a TV version of this epic movie! Check it out, I think you might like it! And if you do, check out it’s sequel, ‘Futureworld’ as well!
