So in the 1990s, David Duchovny (X-Files) came to be known for his serious sometimes slow sounding way in which he took things, even to the absurd degrees sometime, in the movies and TV shows that he did!
He proved he could do this real well when he did the soft-core porn TV series, ‘The Red Shoe Diaries’. I feel like he honed his craft when he played the fringe FBI Agent, ‘Fox Mulder’, when he starred with Gillian Anderson (The Fall) in the Fox hit TV series, ‘The X-Files’!
And he did it so well in, Evolution (2001), that he helped really make the movie absolutely hilarious!
Written by: David Diamond (The Family Man), David Weissman (OldDogs), Don Jakoby (Vampires) & Directed by: Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters 2). Starring: David Duchovny, Julianne Moore (Hannibal), Orlando Jones (The Replacements), Seann William Scott (Final Destination), Ethan Suplee (American History X), Ted Levine (Silence Of The Lambs) & Michael Bower (Geek USA).
“Ca-Caw! Ca-Caw! Ca-Caw! Ah Ah Ee Ee Tookie Tookie! Tookie Tookie! Ca-Caw Ca-ca-caw-ca-caw-caw-caw! Ca-ca-caw!” – A quote by: Wayne Grey (Played by: Seann William Scott in the movie, Evolution (2001)!)
Glen Canyon, Arizona, the present day. Wayne (Played by: Seann William Scott), practising at night in the desert for his upcoming fireman’s exam, witnesses the impact of a meteorite.
The next day, biology teacher Dr. Ira Kane (Played by: David Duchovny and geology teacher Harry Block (Played by: Orlando Bloom) from Glen Canyon Community College manage to get to the meteorite, which is stuck in the ground at the bottom of a cave. By taking a sample, they discover a slimy blue fluid coming out of the meteorite.
A little later, Ira Kane finds out that myriads of single-celled life-forms dwell in the fluid, evolve at an incredible rate, even while he’s watching. What first seems like a sure ticket to Sweden for the Nobel Prize soon develops into a nightmare: By evolving and adapting at that unbelievably fast rate, the Aliens start spreading out, and the Military comes in. Now it all comes down to what Darwin so rightfully stated: Survival of the fittest. And no good idea in sight…
So in truth… This movie absolutely is a ton of fun… But that is really about it!
It is a star-studded all star cast of a movie that is incredibly funny, but is sadly not all that memorable!
Check it out though! It is more than worth a watch!
