Hey, hey, have you seen the new movie: Men in Black: International (2019) with Avengers star: Chris Hemsworth (Thor)?
If so, what did you think about the latest sequel in the classic Men In Black series, and the first feature neither Will Smith (Independence Day) or Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive)?
Well I haven’t seen the latest Men In Black movie yet… But I am looking forward to watching it pretty ASAP… I mean I have been a fan of the series since the first Men In Black movie came out in 1997… But we will get to that in a minute!
Written: Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) & Directed by: Barry Sonnenfeld (Get Shorty). Starring: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Fiorentino (After Hours), Vincent D’Onofrio (The Cell), Tony Shaloub (Galaxy Quest) & Rip Torn (Down Periscope).
“A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow.” – Agent Kay (A quote by Tommy Lee Jones, from the movie: Men In Black (1997)!)
Living secretly in our planet by assuming human form, a plethora of extraterrestrial refugees of all shapes and colours peacefully coexist with the inhabitants of Manhattan; however, the rebellious and malevolent ones are kept under control by the secret government organization called the Men in Black.
Under those circumstances, the veteran Agent K and the agency’s newest recruit, Agent J, will soon have their work cut out for them when an interplanetary visitor hatches an evil scheme to conquer the galaxy. But, can two men in black suits alone avert an impending disaster of global proportions?
Now I am gonna be blunt… Men In Black is supposed to be one of those movies that are supposed to be comical and such… And the truth? I didn’t really care one way or another for the comedy… It had it’s moments, but for the most part… Where as this movie failed to bring the funny… It really delivered well in every other department!
The concept behind the, ‘Men In Black’… A story that has it’s place in legend and in conspiracy theory (The Men In Black story has been told and retold for many, many decades) was a a ton of fun!
And getting such an amazing cast: ‘Will Smith’, ‘Tommy Lee Jones’ and the like… Now these are true ‘A-listers’ that really know how to make a movie great!
And considering that it was nearing the end of the non-CGI era of special effects… The special effects were actually truly amazing!
If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I highly, highly recommend doing so… It is not very funny… But it rocks in every other aspect!
